Where I Am At
Waiting in Deloraine and looking forward to a local metal worker and his plan to weld a bar on the rear of the ute onto which can be hooked a set of steps which he is designing.
Now in my second week of staying at Deloraine Caravan Park - enjoying power without the bother of setting up the solar panel or getting out and starting the small generator (which has yet to do more than be checked it is working!)
Monday, January 18th - Combination of silly factors and I took a tumble, wrenching my right knee rather badly. Luckily no permanent damage done, but taking its time to heal. As a consequence, pulled out of the WOOFing which I had engaged to do in preparation for the Forest Festival at Jackeys Marsh.
Having a "Nanna Nap" one afternoon at Scottsdale and dreaming that someone was calling me on my mobile phone, but there was so much noise in the background I could not be certain they had the right number. Got off the bed, checked my phone for any missed calls, none, looked out the window and saw a recently arrived caravan, took a look at the vehicle and recognised the number plates and there was Trevor! Great hug. Had not seen for five years since he and Fay left Norseman. Fay had been knocking on the door of the camper and getting no response, but she could hear the radio so knew I was not far away. Turned out to be one of those wonderful times when a great group of people got together enjoying each other's company. I know I did a lot of laughing. Fay and Trevor took me out touring in their vehicle, going on roads I would not wish on my Triton's tyres.
15-17 January : Met up with Tassie Shearwaters, CMCA solos at Lilydale, small crowd but good time.
Ringarooma for a couple of weeks, then Scottsdale, Bridport and to Exeter for Christmas Day. Then Westbury, Myrtle Bank, into Launceston for service on ute, back into Launceston to have extra leaf added to suspension springs.
Wednesday, December 2 - Arrived in Tasmania after a wonderful night's sleep on the ferry.
Am camped at a caravan park in Geelong, waiting to cross to Tasmania on Tuesday evening
Saturday 28th : Coleraine to Geelong.
Friday 27th November, left Adelaide.
November 2009 : Caught up with my daughter and her three children. She wondered why she was so surprised that I got on so well with them! MUCH prefer being "Nanna" than "Mum."Also caught up with other family members.
Across to South Australia. For the first time I did not have to keep an eye on the temperature gauge and was able to take in more of the scenery. Although the Nullarbor is flat enough, there are (for cyclists) heartbreaking hills on the way.
October 2009 : House sitting in Norseman.
September 2009
Attended a CMCA (Campervan & Motorhome Club of Australia) State Rally at Wyalkatchem where I met others from the Solos Network. Had a great time at the dog show, handling a beautiful standard poodle named Scarlet. Being owned by the judges, Scarlet could not be considered for any prizes but we both had fun prancing round the ring as if we were actually competing. A “Dimboola” wedding took place and it was good to see that so many op shops had been raided for the gear worn by the guests.
Many of us spend the preceding week at the Goomalling Caravan Park. Highest possible praise for the managers of the caravan park, the facilities in the park itself and within the town. A REALLY nice dress shop – the only thing I cannot resist is temptation and walked away with a sweater to match the two pairs of trousers bought while in Donnybrook.
June 26 - September 5 : Donnybrook, Western Australia. Ten week house-sitting. Am now really spoiled Underfloor heating. Did not have to chop wood, clean out grates, etc. Only problem, if that can be so called, was no dog to walk which meant I got lazy and put on weight. Joined the Donnybrook Writers Group and can thoroughly recommend this mob to any writer travelling through the south west of Western Australia. They meet on fortnightly Fridays – call into the library for details. Participating gave me the kick along I so badly need to do some more work on “The Book”.
